How does your garden grow?

After yesterday's "woe is me, I have to pack boxes" post, I thought I should probably concentrate on all the awesome, positive aspects about the move. I absolute can't wait, this house is a dream and I can't wait to make it ours, and stamp some personal touches on it.
We have spent the past six months in a townhouse, and while it has been perfectly fine, and actually great in a way - low maintenance, small enough to keep (reasonably) clean - the biggest thing we have missed is a yard and a garden. Miss TikiBoo has been desperate for a trampoline for years, so we will be getting one delivered as soon as we move in, especially as move in day is the first day of school holidays!
As for me, I am itching to get into the blank canvas that is the current yard, and transforming into a beautiful garden where we can relax and spend time outdoors. I enjoy gardening, and have a lot of plans for our space, including a vege patch, loads of herbs as well as trees, flowers and restful spaces.

Does anyone else enjoy gardening? I'd love to hear about other people's gardens and what they have done, what they love about them. Please share, and if you have photos, even better!

Here's some of my inspiration. All sourced on Pinterest, which makes crediting the original source rather difficult.

  1. How beautiful! I love gardens, and I do enjoy gardening but I'm not good at knowing what to do to make a garden. My husband is wonderful at landscaping but he keeps planting non flowering shrubs. I LOVE flowers.

  2. Oh yes! I'm in a townhouse at the moment with an active 2.5 year old. So desperate for a garden he can tear around and explore in- I hear you there.

Not to mention a house big enough that I can walk away when the tantrums happen! :S

  4. I love gardens but I don't like gardening. Those pictures are gorgeous. Especially the one with the archway. I can almost smell the lavender.

  5. This is my 4th year of having a large garden. It's so rewarding to be able to go outside pick what you want and then cook it fresh on the grill. I have found that my above ground garden for vegi's works the best. I'll take some pictures for you. This year our eggplant, asparagus, peppers, and tomatoes did great, for some reason the onions didn't do well. We also have planted peach, olive, and citrus trees. How do peach tree's do in Austraila??? Let me know if you have any questions :)

P.S. My rosemary is doing great and rosemary can grow into a huge bush and it doesn't mind cold weather!

  6. Oh you're going to have a garden soon! How wonderful. I am in an apartment so I am no use to you but I will live vicariously through your garden... and trampoline! A-M xx

  7. Totally understand your garden enthusiasm. We bought Betsy in large part because of her garden and very soon after we moved in we had a garage sale that ended up completely funding the springfree trampoline. We also have a tyre swing that is a complete winner. Now that it is warming up I am looking forward to doing some work on my garden too. Perhaps when you move in we should have a cuppa and swap plans. By the way, I forgot to reply the other day that we are in one of the streets adjacent to the little catholic school on the top of the hill. melx

  8. Lots of beautiful inspiration!!! I love the lanterns, and the hammock looks like the perfect spot to relax and read a good book while the kids play in the yard.

Best of luck with your move!
