The solo trip

It's not long now until I make my first ever solo holiday. I've never been away by myself, unless you count a couple of trips to Auckland, but as they were to stay with family it's a little different.
The first part of my trip is to Dubai, where I'll be staying with a lovely friend. She has been living there since January so I won't have any problems there, I know I will be well looked after. Part two is Paris. CDG airport - alone. Getting from CDG to my apartment - alone. Making sure I get keys etc, finding the local convenience store - alone. Eating in restaurants - alone.
Of course, I am incredibly excited though, I get to experience Paris at my own pace, see only the things I want to see, eat when and where I want to eat...but I'm a little bit scared as well!
Last year we had a family trip to France, and stayed in the 7th arrondisement. This time I have picked a very different location, Le Marais, the 4th arr.

I'd love some tips from readers who have been to Paris, what did you love, your favourite places to eat and shop etc?

PS - The Liberty giveaway ends tomorrow, so if you haven't entered, do it now!

  1. The Marais is wonderful. Make sure you visit Merci and Bon Ton for children's wear. There is a beautiful building at the back of place des Vosges that was once a private residence. Worth a wander through and has a lovely bookshop. There is a haberdashery shop just near there that I blogged about back in May. The museum in the marais is beautiful - chronicles the history of Paris and has amazing examples of old wrought iron shop signs. Happy travels and I look toward to reading about your trip.

  3. Your trip sounds super. I wish I could get a leave pass and go on a holiday by myself...I probably have more chance of flying to the moon. I loved Paris, which I could remember some of the places I went to though. Might go through the diary and see if I can suggest some yummy places to eat. My sister is in Paris as I type on a solo trip. Never been overseas in her life and is spending 10 days in Paris on her pat malone, having a ball...very very jealous x
